But despite this, the star has admitted his addiction to crack cocaine got so bad he would stoop to any low to get his hit.

‘I would have sold my mother for a rock of crack’ admitted Hardy, who was born and bred in London’s Hammersmith.

‘I was told very clearly, “You go down that road, Tom, you won’t come back.”’

‘That message stayed with me clearly for the rest of my days. I am f***ing lucky to be here,’ said the 37-year-old, who also paid tribute to his wife Charlotte Riley for keeping him on the straight and narrow.

‘My wife is an actor, so she sort of gets it. She’s just a very kind person. I’m very lucky.’

Speaking of his bad boy image, Hardy says it’s all a construct dreamed up by filmmakers.

’The trouble with Hollywood is they want you to be something, then they think you’re who they want you to be.’

‘I’m not a fighter. I’m a petite little bougeois boy from London.’
