Briana Buchanan was arrested on drug-related and child neglect charges, according to local media.

It took several days for her young son to work up enough courage to show anyone the alleged stash of crystal meth in the car parked outside their home, reported News 13.

He and his mother were living with her boyfriend's brother, Peter - and the 7-year-old decided to confide in him.

"He came up to me, and he said, 'There's really bad stuff in mom's car that I want to show you,'" Peter said, according to the local station.

The 7-year-old brought his uncle to his mother's car and opened up the boot. Inside was drug paraphernalia, sitting right next to some of the boy's toys.

Shocked, Peter took the boy inside and called the police.

He told the 911 dispatcher: "Her son, who's 7, just told me she keeps bad stuff in her car, and he opened up the trunk, and she has a meth lab in her trunk."

When police arrived, they found chemicals, two syringes, hot plates and other items used to make meth.

Worse still, the little boy revealed that his mother had forced him to help her allegedly manufacture the drugs.

Peter said: "He said when they would get all this stuff together, they would put it all in a soda bottle, and they would shake the soda bottle and take the top off to, I guess, vent it out."

Police charged Buchanan with child neglect, possession of chemicals, meth and paraphernalia, and manufacturing and delivery of meth.

He is now living with his grandmother and "relieved to be out of the situation".
