Amanda, known to Twitter followers as @TrappedAtMyDesk, was just like anyone else. She got stuck in elevators, she wanted to know who sent her that Valentine's Card, she had trouble sleeping…

And then she posted the following message:

"My doctor's office just called me to come in and discuss some test results. That can only be bad, right? They don't call unless it's bad news."

From then on, her life took a very different turn. Because she discovered she had an inoperable brain tumour - and had just months to live.

This is a very difficult video to watch:

Twitter is not just self obsessed people telling the world what they had for lunch. Snippets of life, 140 characters at a time, can draw you into the private world of a total stranger.

And Amanda, through her ability to seize the day, has taught us that life is worth living, grudges aren't worth holding and dreams are worth following.

May she rest in peace.
