Kseniya Infinity, as she calls herself on Instagram, spotted MP Vitaly Milonov while on her flight to St Petersburg.

But rather than shy away from the politician, who is known for his anti-gay stance in Russia, Kseniya took the opportunity to kiss her girlfriend - right in front of him.

Captioning the snap on Instagram, she wrote: ‘Who’s that in the background? MILONOV! And we don’t give a f***! We’re flying to our favourite club, Infinity.’

The selfie protest followed the news that Milonov is set to bring a law in that stops same-sex couples from marrying in Russia.

Politician Milonov called the women ‘crazy fools’ for their behaviour on board, claiming they ‘made a bunch of silly faces…ran to the back of the plane, where they sat down and didn’t show their faces until the end of the flight.’

The lesbian kiss drew admiration on Instagram and beyond, with one user writing: ‘This is awesome, you rock!! Love from Copenhagen!!’

Another added the simple statement: ‘Love is love.’

What do you think of the couple's protest? Would you do the same?
