Lee's killers Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale were sentenced to life yesterday for the murder that shocked the nation last year.
Private Rigby was just 25-years-old when he was mown down whilst taking a walk in Woolwich, South East London, right next to his barracks.
Abedolajo and Adebowale attacked him from behind with their car, before hacking and stabbing him to death in broad daylight.
Aimee West, 23, was in Afghanistan working as a military policewoman at the time of his death.
Speaking of that day on the 22nd May, Aimee said she spoke to Lee for the last time about 20 minutes before his death, when Lee told her he was on his way back home.
'We had to time when I could ring him and he said to ring him in about 20 minutes and he told me that he loved me,' says Aimee.
But when she tried to call him and the time they'd planned, the phone rang off.
'I knew something was wrong,' said Aimee, who then began ringing family members to see if they could get hold of the soldier.
When her Mother mentioned she should check the news, Aimee raced to her laptop, and came across the image of a man lying dead in the street - with reports claiming he was a soldier.
'I saw the picture of Lee lying on the ground in his jumper,' said Aimee, to which she added: 'I had bought that jumper for him.'
Despite being sure it was her fiancé that had met such a tragic end, his identity was not confirmed until the following morning Afghanistan time - so Aimee waited up through the night, desperate for more information.
And Aimee was right. Her fiancé had been killed in the streets of London, an irony that seems too much to bear.
'It wouldn't be torture for them to be killed, I want them to suffer'
'He was in London and I was in Afghanistan, if anything was going to happen to one of us it would be me because I was in Afghanistan.'
Speaking of Lee's killers, Aimee said: 'It wouldn't be torture for them to be killed, I want them to suffer and that's what's going to happen to them.'
