Multitasking for us is hard enough at the best of times, let alone during childbirth.

But for one woman who’s taking the internet by storm, it was an absolute breeze.

27-year-old Alaha from New York, uploaded pictures to Instagram documenting the birth of her baby girl, and they were a far cry from what you expect.

Not a stressed-and-sweaty snap in sight. Instead the luxury business consultant showed off her makeup artistry skills, transforming her face with liquids and lotions – all while giving birth!

One Instagram shot read:

“Three weeks ago at this time I was finishing up my makeup and getting ready for my princess to make her appearance. Yes, I was doing my makeup while I was in labor!

“I was pausing during contractions and picking up where I left off once the contractions passed.”

Understandably, the comment section exploded, with women in awe of her amazing skills, with many women saying they wish they could do eyeliner like that on any old day - let alone during labour!

And soon enough the pictures of the talented artist went viral.

After the photos blew up, the new mum spoke to Buzzfeed about it, saying:

“I didn’t really think it was a big deal that I decided to do my makeup while in labour… My sister was awesome enough to take photos of the process and all I did was post them. Next thing I know, the pictures were an overnight internet sensation!”

She also explained the putting her face on was just a way to keep her mind occupied during the pains of childbirth, as well as reading. Alaha also advised other mothers to give it a go - as long as their doctors approve! Why be miserable AND sweaty-faced during labour, ey?

But sadly some of the feedback on her social media feeds has been more negative towards the 27-year-old.

One nasty commenter wrote:

“The things you women do to get attention damn.”

And another:

“Really smh [shake my head], just be happy for healthy baby.”

But Alaha didn’t take the criticism lying down, and told Buzzfeed:

“Anyone who has been through labour knows that it’s a waiting game. Of course I made sure my baby was well and healthy. I made sure my doctor was OK with it before proceeding with my makeup application. What I was doing didn’t put my baby at risk and it didn’t interfere with my labour one bit.”

So there you have it!

Would you try applying makeup to distract from labour pains?
