King’s Cross was evacuated on Thursday 13 August, as armed police descended upon the station shortly after 3pm.
Passengers were left frightened and confused, with some taking to Twitter to share images of the incident.
One, sharing the photo seen at the top of this article, wrote: “Crazy scenes, held on the train at #KingsCross then suddenly armed police everywhere surrounding a guy #nearlyfriday”
Another, when asked how the evacuation was announced, responded: “Couple of muffled announcements. Mostly staff going mental keeping everyone back as the armed police took control of platforms.”
British Transport Police confirmed the evacuation on Twitter, writing: “Some platforms at #KingsCross are closed as we respond to a security alert.
"Please follow instructions from station staff and officers.”
Officers have arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug over an hour later, it has since been confirmed.
They later added: “Our armed officers at #KingsCross station have detained a man – some platforms will remain closed for now while we carry out enquiries.”
