Kind strangers drive miles to fetch milk for mum and baby stuck in traffic jam

Strangers rushed to the aid of a young mum and baby, who were stuck in a traffic jam for over nine hours.

Shelley Ruck was stuck in a 30 mile tailback after a cement lorry collided with a heavy good's vehicle.

The 33-year-old was stuck with her mother and eight month old son, and just one bottle of formula milk.

Luckily for Shelley, passers-by noticed her predicament and drove to a shop to collect milk powder, sterilised bottles filled with boiling water, and some bottled water - which they lowered down to her from a bridge in a jerry can.

Shelley described their actions as the 'kindest thing that anyone could have done.'

'It was absolutely unbelievable. They saved us. My baby would have been hungry if it were not for their amazing thoughtfulness and kindness.'

The family were stuck on the M6 near Lancaster last Thursday, and are keen to locate to good samaritans who helped them out.

'It was really horrific. If George had woken up I would have had no milk and it would have been dire.'
