Katie Piper’s attacker will stay behind bars after his parole bid was rejected. Stefan Sylvestre was jailed in 2009 after he attacked Katie with Sulphuric acid, on the request of her ex boyfriend Daniel Lynch, in March 2008.

The Mirror report tonight that Sylvestre, 27, will remain in jail indefinitely, with a spokesperson for the Parole Board telling them: “We can confirm that a panel of the board has not directed the release of Stefan Sylvestre.”

Since the attack, Katie has forged a successful career and has become an inspiration to thousands, telling her story to help others. After the attack, Katie bravely spoke out and just months afterwards was pushing to move on with her life.

“I’m never going to be the old Katie,” she said in 2009. “She’s like a best friend I once had. She’s gone and there’s a different one in her place. I’m not going to be a victim. I’m the woman who got through this. I’m full of life and looking forward to the future.”

Katie, who recently married the father of her daughter, Belle, Richard Sutton, spoke at the Global Gift Gala last week and spoke about her recent hospital stay.

“For me, I've been on such a long journey and I've discovered that a negative mind will never ever give you a positive life,” she said.

“My treatment is ongoing and I had surgery on Monday. I had some skin grafted from my right bum cheek, so I have a major Kim Kardashian bum cheek on one side with loads of bandaging under my dress, and flat a**** on the other side.”

She also praised Richard in her speech, telling the audience: “You've made me realise it's okay to be me and be comfortable in the skin that I'm in.”
