‘Katie Hopkins doesn’t know what it’s like to be a big teen- it’s hard’

Controversial columnist Katie Hopkins appeared on TV recently, unveiling her shocking 3st 6lbs weight gain.

The former Apprentice star, 39, who's usually a size 8, has ballooned from 8st 8lbs to 12st and size 16, after scoffing around 6,500 calories a day for a TV documentary, vowing she'll lose the weight to show obese people it's easy to diet.

5ft 7 Katie- who has made no secret of her intolerance of overweight people- has faced a backlash over her weight-gain project, with many branding her 'fattist' and 'shallow'.

She told Closer: "People say: 'You're lucky, you're skinny,' and I just don't think these excuses are cutting it any more. I think losing weight will be easy- I've missed exercise. It will take blood, sweat and tears- but rather that than sacrifice my pride for a doughnut."

But her attitude towards obesity has riled Emily Trimmer, 15, who shed more than 3st at boot camp, going from 21st to 17st 10lbs. Emily- from Suffolk- first appeared in Closer in May, weighing 21st.

Closer teamed up with GI Jane Bootcamp to help 5ft 5 Emily get healthier, She lost a stone in her first week.

Emily says: "It was hard to begin with. I struggled with the running and lifting weights and felt constantly out of breath. It got easier, though."

"Katie doesn't know what it's like to be a big teen. I used to go clothes shopping with my friends but nothing would fit. It made me want to eat more. I didn't want to leave the house as I was so ashamed."
