Katie Hopkins, 39, is known for tackling controversial issues - and now, in her latest column for The Sun, the former Apprentice contestant has shared her opinions on the death penalty.

"I am content that inmates on death row suffer fear waiting for death"

Perhaps unsurprisingly, she's a big fan of it.

She wrote: "As you would expect, mature students from the sandal-wearing School of Love and Forgiveness are protesting [the death penalty] in earnest. They say lethal injections are barbaric and turn us all into monsters.

"Their poster boy is Clayton Lockett. He was given a lethal injection in April, but it turned out his lethal injection wasn’t lethal enough. He took 43 minutes to die.

"I looked all around my desk for some sympathy but nope, nothing. Turns out I am not really bothered."

The columnist, who is currently spending time in America, went on to add: " I have always believed the ultimate crime deserves the ultimate punishment.

"If you deliberately take away someone’s life then you should lose your life too."

Katie Hopkins explained that the death penalty, in her opinion, is a punishment which makes people afraid of committing a crime - and added that murderers, rapists and child killers deserve everything they get.

She finished off by saying: "I am content that inmates on death row suffer fear waiting for death."

Do you agree that the death penalty is 'justice'?

"Let them feel it. Fear is nothing compared to the life sentence of grief given to the victim’s family. What if it were your mother shot in the head or your five-year-old stabbed to death?"
