Hopkins, who found fame after appearing on reality show The Apprentice, predictably launched a torrent of abuse on parents of overweight children, and believed that the solution is to tell the children that they are fat.
The 38 year-old, who has notably never been the shy and unassuming type, said “Behind every child there is often a fat mother who should take full responsibility.'
'Parents should get a grip, tell their children they’re fat, get together, sit down and do something about it.” she told ITV's This Morning.
Fellow guest Sonia Poulton heatedly argued that the solution was to “Treat people with love and respect, not to label our children.”
Presenter Phillip Schofield, 51, tried to gain control of the debate by having to forcibly shout over the two "No! STOP TALKING AT ONCE! One at a time."
The discussion quickly turned personal as Hopkins retorted with an attack on Poulton after Phillip Schofield had to break up the raucous, saying “Sorry but it’s hard when you’ve got a zebra in a wig shouting at you.” Journalist Sonia Poulton, who was clearly livid at the statement, responded with “This is not a wig, this is my real hair! Don’t be ridiculous!”
Hopkins’ ultimate advice to children was to “Get less in your face, and more on your feet.”
Following the show, the argument carried on over the Internet as the pair took to Twitter. Poulton confessed: “I was THIS CLOSE to nutting Hopkins today. Thankfully I’m a pacifist.”
Katie Hopkins caused uproar when she appeared on This Morning in July, after claiming that she judged other children’s class backgrounds based on their Christian names.
