Jeremy Forrest – the teacher who ran away with his teenager lover – is set to be released from prison today. Forrest has served half his five and a half year sentence.
The former teacher, 33, made international headlines in 2012 when he ran away to France with one of his former pupils, who was just 15 at the time
Forrest was extradited and later jailed in June 2013 for child abduction and five counts of sex with a minor.
Throughout Forrest’s time in jail, it was believed the schoolgirl – who’s now 17 – was waiting for Jeremy to be released so they could continue their relationship. However it was claimed today that their romance had ended, with an insider telling the Sun: “Jeremy feels there is nothing left for him here.”
“They don't hate each other but they don't want to be a couple. Despite what some might think, there will be no romantic reunion or fairytale ending and, quite frankly, we are pleased about that.
“Jeremy has had time to reflect and now just wants to get on with his life. They both realise a clean break is the best thing to do. It is time to move on.”
