Food blogger and cook Jack Monroe has made a name for themselves by creating easy-to-follow ‘austerity’ recipes for families up and down the country.

Jack rose to fame after sharing recipes on their website 'A Girl Called Jack' and starring in a popular Sainsbury's ad.

The campaigner rarely discusses their private life, but recently revealed to Twitter that they identify as transgender.

Off the back of the revelation, Jack was praised by followers and received messages of love and support.

But the popular cook felt the need to fight back and defend their status as transgender when a contributor for the Mail Online described their ‘coming out’ and perhaps premature assumption of 'transitioning' as a ‘setback’.

Jack also pointed out that the subject of transitioning is completely seperate from identifying as transgender.

Jack wrote on their blog: “Dear Daily Mail, transitioning isn’t a setback, it’s a freedom”

The article suggested that Jack was considering having their breasts removed, to which Jack responded on their website: “BECAUSE SURGERY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF ALL OF THIS BECAUSE TITS AND COCKS AND COCKS AND TITS.

“It’s so puerile. If you care a jot about accuracy, I am currently training for a marathon in April so will see how my body shape changes naturally with running and weight training before making any snap decisions about surgical procedures.

Jack added: “The preferred term is ‘chest reduction’ rather than ‘breast removal’ BTW. As for any other surgical speculation, I already have bigger balls than your entire newspaper, to say nothing of my cock collection, and we’ll leave that there.”
