The cat, who hails from Dunedin, New Zealand, returned home one evening with a surprise for its owner. And this time, it wasn't in the form of a dead mouse or bird.

His female owner was shocked to find her beloved pet carrying a 'bag of drugs' into the house on Sunday evening, and was quick to phone local police to report her cat's haul.

Sergeant Reece Munro told a local paper of his shock at the cat's find: 'You hear of cats bringing dead birds and rats home, but I've never seen anything like this before.'

The cat's haul, estimated to be worth around fifty British pounds, has now been confiscated by Police, who are hunting for the drug dealers who 'supplied' the feline with his stash.

The drug-trafficking animal has not been charged, although Sgt Munro admitted a feline drug-detection squad could be 'something police could explore in the future.'
