Horror as baby suffocates after mother dies whilst breastfeeding

Police in Los Angeles made a grim discovery after they found a two-year-old boy Nathan alone and severely dehydrated, left to fend for himself after his mother passed suddenly.

Erika Tomassian passed away whilst feeding Nathan’s baby brother Michael. In horrific twist, Michael also died after choking to death.

Police did not release names of the young family, but neighbours confirmed the identities of the tragic family.

An LAPD spokeswoman told Daily News: "It's very sad. He [Nathan] was fending for himself, opening drawers and trying to find food."

Little Nathan had been staying in the home for days by himself as the bodies of his mum and little brother lay in the apartment.

Erika’s cause of death is not yet known, and it is believe she was around the age of 45.

She was also thought to be raising her two sons alone as a single mother at the time of her death. There is reportedly no evidence of foul play and Erika’s death is thought to be of natural causes.

Nathan was taken to hospital after police discovered him at home and he is now in a stable condition.
