The 39-year-old didn’t want his family to be named, but told the Manchester Evening News that a gang broke into his 77-year-old dad’s home and threatened to kill him.
He said: “He thought he was going to die. They said they were going to kill him. He is still very distressed. He is just bewildered. He just doesn’t know whether he is coming or going.”
During the attack, the four thugs are said to have tied up the man, gagged him and demanded money. They punched the victim and beat him with a crowbar for nearly an hour.
After the shocking and sickening attack, which left the victim with bleeding behind the eye and a fractured cheek bone, the gang made away with just £40. Thankfully, the man was able to get to a phone and call his son.
The son continued: “He had managed to get his ankles out of the duct tape but when I got there his hands were still bound together and blood was pouring out of his face.
“I can’t put into words the shock of it. That will stay with me for the rest of my life.
“My dad was just glad my mum wasn’t there. We don’t know what could’ve happened.”
Appealing for his father’s attackers to be caught, he said: “My father got a battering, and in the worst circumstances anyone could imagine, but whoever it was might do it again and someone else might not be so fortunate.”
