The 34-year-old, who is on trial for arranging a hit on his new bride, looked at gay dating and fetish websites just hours after hearing of Anni’s death.

Dewani is accused of paying a taxi driver to arrange his wife’s murder, instructing Zola Tongo to make sure Anni’s death looked like a carjacking.

Giving evidence on Wednesday was Mziwamadoda Qwabe, 29 who pleaded guilty to his role in 28-year-old Anni’s murder. He described how he and his two co-accused knew that it was ‘a husband who wanted his wife killed but it had to look like a hijacking.’

He added that Mr Dewani paid them the equivalent of £850 for the killing.

After Anni’s brutal murder, Shrien admitted to logging onto Gaydar, a dating website, and then Recon, a hardcore fetish website that features men dressed in dog collars and gas masks.

The next day, just hours before Shrien flew Anni’s body back to the UK, Dewani logged onto both sites once more.

However, the defence are expected to allege that these sites were logged onto the sites ‘automatically’ and that Shrien was not actively usin them at this time.

The accused denies all five charges against him.
