For many, finding a backpack stuffed full of cash would be a quick ticket to riches - but for a homeless man in Boston, it simply represented a good deed waiting to happen.

Yup, a homeless man in the Boston area proved himself to be a seriously Good Samaritan on Saturday when, after finding a black backpack containing $41,900 dollars, he turned it in to police.

The backpack's contents included $2,400 in cash and $39,5000 in American Express Travelers Cheques, as well as passports and personal papers, and could have been the homeless man's ticket out of poverty.

But, rather than keep the money for himself (not to mention sell the passports), he decided to hand in the bag to the authorities - and no doubt put a big smile on the face of the person who'd lost it.

He gave no forwarding address, just the name of the Boston shelter he is currently staying in - and we really hope the owner of the backpack tracks him down to say thank-you.
