The Californian group had just finished dinner in Indianapolis when one of the tour crew spotted a homeless man with a kitten on the street outside.

And after being offered the cat for a meagre dollar, the band decided to rescue the feline and give him a loving home.

Slayer pioneered the thrash metal genre

Slayer’s publicist Heidi Robinson-Fitzferald said: ‘Last night Kerry [King] and some of the crew went to dinner at Kerry’s favourite steak house in Indy, St. Elmo’s Steak House.’

Heidi explained that: ‘The kitten was freezing so Jess [the assistant tour manager] took it, slept with her in her bunk on the bus and went to the venue with her today, hanging out.’

The tabby cat

According to Fitzgerald, a member of the crew got in touch with someone who wanted a kitten, and the beautiful tabby now has a home.
