Tucker Blandford, 23, phoned his bride-to-be and put on a different voice to act as a grieving father, telling bride Alex Lanchester that his 'son' had died in a car accident.

Alex then rang her fiancé's parents to offer her condolences, but shockingly they told her that their son was alive and well, and that he'd told them their had ended.

Speaking of the ordeal, Alex said Tucker has shattered her trust in men, and she doubts she'll ever be able to get serious with someone again.

'Looking back, maybe I was naive. But I really loved him and never thought he would go to such extreme measures to dump me. I've cried until I felt numb but now I'm just really angry,' she said.

The couple met while Ms Lanchester was studying abroad, with their relationship quickly blossoming. However, it was always blighted by the thought that eventually, Alex would have to return to England, a thought that broke the young student's heart.

After a year in a relationship, Tucker proposed, and despite his fiancé having to return to England, they spoke every day to make plans for the future.

However, things took a turn for the worse when suddenly Alex received a call from Tucker's father.

'He told me Tucker had been deeply depressed and wanted to die, so had thrown himself in front of a car.'

Tucker has commented on the story, saying: 'I'm a terrible, awful person. I know I shouldn't have told her I was dead, but I didn't know what else to do.'
