The government have confirmed they have stopped all flights between Sharm el-Sheik.

The news comes after a Russian plane, carrying 224 people, crashed over the weekend. There were no survivors.

ISIS claim to have shot the plane down, although there is no evidence to suggest this is true. Number 10 have however said the plane “may well have been bought down by an explosive device” but said this was a “precautionary measure” after more information came to light.

The spokesperson added: “We would underline that this is a precautionary step and we are working closely with the airlines on this approach.”

A meeting of the government’s Cobra emergency committee is thought to be underway, with David Cameron chairing the meeting.
