Google Zeitgeist list reveals Paul Walker, Corey Monteith and Joey Essex amongst the most searched for people in 2013

Glee star Corey Monteith took the second slot. Fans expressed were shocked when the young actor was found dead in a hotel room in Vancouver following a drug overdose.

Shamed athlete Oscar Pistorius, who was arrested for allegedly shooting his girlfriend dead, took third place.

Former world leaders Nelson Mandela and Margaret Thatcher featured on the list, both of whom passed away this year.

Actor Peter Capaldi featured high in the list due to the announcement that he will step into The Doctor's famous shoes and take on the leading role in Doctor Who.

Directioners made sure that One Direction made it on the list, with Harry Styles making no. 20 on his own merit.

I'm a Celebrity star Joey Essex also made it to the list, people just can't get enough of the cheeky Essex boy.

The credit crunch made its effect known even through the Google Zeitgeist list as it featured money saving pro Martin Lewis. People must be looking for ways to save money this year!
