Renee Finney, 42, passed away on May 7 from cancer, leaving her two children unable to pay for a proper funeral for her.

To try and raise money, the girls had a bake sale and a car wash, and as part of this they wrote letters to their mother - tying them to balloons and letting them fly away.

One of the letters

One of the letters read: 'Hi mom. I miss you and I hope you come and visit me soon because I have questions to ask like why you had to leave so soon.'

'I wanted to celebrate mother's day with you and take you out to eat.'

Yvette Melton discovered one of the balloons on her doorstep 30 miles away, and was so touched by what she found inside that she tried to track the girls down.

After phoning the funeral home listed in Renee's obituary, she discovered that the girls were in need of money for the burial. And Yvette decided to make it her mission to raise funds for the children.

Her and her colleagues raised over $12,000 dollars, meaning that the girls can now bury their mother this week.

Isn't that a lovely story?
