Four-year-old Raudhatul Jannah and her brother, 7, were separated from their parents while holding onto a floating piece of water after the tsunami hit on December 26.

And while their parents survived the tragedy, they could find no sign of their daughter, eventually accepting the likelihood that she had perished.
But in June this year, a member of the family spotted a girl who looked just like Jannah, and made inquiries into who she was.

What he discovered is that the girl had indeed been swept from their village during the tsunami, and had been taken in by a fishing family.

Jannah added that her brother has also survived the tsunami, although she does not know of his whereabouts. The family plan to travel the area looking for their long-lost son, who would now be 17.
