A woman who fell pregnant at the age of 12 after being raped by her elder brother has spoken to This Morning about her shocking childhood.

Tressa Middleton, who is now 21, spent her early childhood in care before moving in with her mother at the age of 11.

The youngster- from West Lothian- soon started drinking after falling into a bad crowd.

It was at this point that she was raped by her brother, who was 16 at the time.

Soon after giving birth, social services took her daughter, who she named Annie, into care. She was then adopted into a new family.

Tressa spoke to Amanda Holden and Philip Schofield about her experiences

“I just hope one day she does forgive me,” Tressa said during her TV appearance.

“I know it’s going to be hard for her when she finds out her uncle is actually her dad.”

She added: ‘I hope she doesn’t blame me for not telling people what actually happened when it happened and for drinking and going off the rails.

"I hope she understands. I’ll leave it up to her but I hope she does forgive me."

Tressa has written about her ordeal in a new book, Tressa: The 12-year-old Mum, where she dedicates a heartfelt message to her daughter.

The message reads: “You are never far from my thoughts. You are the last person I think of when I go to sleep and the first person I think of when I wake up in the morning.

“You are the beating pulse of life. In the cupboard I still keep your clothes from when you were a wee baby.

“For now I want you to know I love you and I always will."
