A seven-year-old girl has been gunned down by her estranged father outside of her home, an inquest heard. Little Mary Shipstone, also known as Maryam Alromisse, was gunned down after she had returned from school.

She was standing next to her mother, Lyndsey Shipstone, and was holding a new violin she was learning to play when her estranged father, Yasser Alromisse, 46, turned up and shot her.

Alromisse was hiding in the back of a car close to the house when he fired at Mary. The inquest heard that after shooting Mary, Alromisse, turned the gun on himself and killed himself with a shot to the head.

Tragically, Mary died in King's College Hospital, London, after being rushed there following the shooting.

The shooting took place at a safe house where Mary and her mother had lived for a year. They also heard that Alromisse had been abusive towards Lyndsey during their relationship.

In court, it was revealed that Alromisse had hired a private detective and pretended to an old friend who wanted to reconnect.

However the PI refused his services after he became suspicious of Alromisse’s motive. Despite this, Alromisse still managed to find the address of Lyndsey and Mary and later went on to commit what the court called a “thoroughly despicable act of violence”.

They added: “It was not in any way spontaneous. It was pre-meditated over a long period of time.”
