The young girl was on her way to lessons from her local village in Punjab, Pakistan, when she was snatched by two men.

The attackers then raped her, before burying her under the assumption she had died during the attack.

But the girl was actually unconscious, and managed to dig her way out when she regained consciousness.

She was taken to a medical centre after she managed to flag down a passerby.

According to reports, her father Siddique Mughal had alerted local police to the fact that his daughter had been taken , they however refused to investigate the incident.

Her family were ordered to kill her to ‘rid themselves of shame’

According to Pakistani child charity Sahil, the number of reported child rapes has almost quadrupled since 2002.

This case echoes an incident in 2007, where 13-year-old Kainat Soomro who was gang-raped by four men.

She was shunned by her village after exposing her attackers, and her family were ordered to kill her to ‘rid themselves of shame’.

They refused, and one brother was subsequently murdered, while her father and another brother were savagely beaten.
