Grace Wain, 14, was attempting to board an Etihad Airways plane in Manchester last Monday, when staff became concerned about her welfare.

Staff members said they weren’t discriminating against Grace for being a redhead, but instead were simply worried she had come down with something thanks to her incredibly pale skin.

Her father Paul had a few words to say about this.

‘I told them, “We live in Scotland,” She is a redhead and she has a pale completion. That’s just the way she is.’

In the end, a doctor’s note had to be provided before the family were allowed to fly to the Maldives for a family holiday.

’Staff were concerned about the wellbeing of a young passenger ahead of a lengthy flight’ Eithad said in a statement.

‘The team called for a medic who examined the child and requested a ‘fit to fly’ letter from a doctor, allowing the family to board.’

‘Our team on the ground continued to provide support ahead of the flight.’
