French police commissioner ‘kills himself’ after meeting relatives of Charlie Hebdo victim

A French police commissioner has reportedly killed himself after meeting relatives of a victim murdered in the Charlie Hebdo massacre.

Helric Fredou, 45, allegedly shot himself in his office on Wednesday night in Limoges, France 3 reported.

Fredou, who reportedly had no children and was single, had been the deputy director of the regional police since 2012.

Colleagues described the commissioner to have been “depressed” and overworked.

The Union of National Police Commissioners sent its “sincere condolences” to his Commissioner Fredou and said they were thinking especially of his colleagues.

The tragic events in France started after 12 people were shot dead at the French satirical magazine's headquarters in Paris on Wednesday morning.
