Liam Mansell spotted smoke coming out of the school laminator on his way back to his classroom and raised the alarm, allowing all 167 pupils at White Mere Community School to be evacuated to safety.

For his actions Liam was given a bravery award by the fire department during his school assembly - even getting a ride on one of the Fireman's shoulders.
According to Head Teacher Gail Howe, Liam raised the alarm quickly by telling his teacher: ‘I think our school is on fire, Miss.’

Station Manager Ian Warne said that Liam not only saved potential damage to the school, but also ensured all of the primary school pupils were moved to safety before the fire could spread.
We’re sure Liam however, was more excited by the Fireman Sam toys he received as part of his prize - though perhaps in later life he’ll realise what a brave little boy he really was.
