Emanuel Ortega suffered the injury when he went head to head with an opposition player during a Primera C game between his team, San Martin Burzaco, and Juventud Unida earlier this month.
After losing his balance, the young player crashed into a concrete wall, which left him lying motionless on the pitch.
Despite emergency surgery, the Argentina Football Association confirmed the sad news yesterday, that the player had passed away.
