Ambulance teams attended the scene of the crash in Staffordshire after it was discovered by two cyclists early on Sunday morning.
The black Ford Fiesta appears to have hit a tree in foggy conditions and come off the road in Crakemarsh near Uttoxeter.
Tragically, the driver of the car, a 25-year-old local man, lost his life in the crash, with his five year old girl being injured in the collision.
She was found next to her dead father’s body, and has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.
It is thought the car had been in the ditch for some time.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said that the incident was ‘extremely difficult,’ with police adding they are investigating what caused the crash.
