Shakara Taylor, 31, was left reeling when her wedding to the ‘love of her life’ was postponed, after he confessed he had doubts about the relationship.
Just a few weeks after David Ravenscroft, 52, gave Shakara the devastating news, she fell to her death from an eight storey hotel.
The couple had enjoyed a whirlwind romance after meeting at Mr Ravenscroft’s call centre in Blackpool, and moved to the Cayman islands for a more luxurious lifestyle.
After three years, the attractive couple began planning their wedding, with Taylor’s father, 62, saying his daughter was ‘over the moon’ to be getting hitched.
‘She loved all that girly stuff and had been planning her wedding since she was a little girl. All her friends had started booking flights and everyone was really happy for her.’
But just four months before the nuptials were due to take place, Mr Ravenscroft called off the big day, saying they should ‘see where they were in six months time.’
At the inquest into her death, the 52-year-old said Shakara struggled to deal with his decision.
Just a few weeks later, Shakara dropped her fiance off at a health club - parting with a kiss - before driving to a hotel and getting the lift to the seventh floor.
CCTV footage then shows Ms Taylor’s body on the ground outside the hotel. She died from serious injuries to her head and body.
Records show that Shakara had a history of mental illness, including depression, OCD, and alcohol and drug problems.
