Friday December 18 has been coined ‘Black Eye Friday’ and is supposedly when the most Brits get absolutely trollied.

Whether it's work parties or people just getting into the festive spirit, last night saw British towns packed with drunken revellers – and the situation probably wasn’t helped by the unseasonably mild weather.

But sadly, it wasn’t all fun and merriment – with the day getting its delightful name from the fact that many have a little too much to drink and end up brawling in the streets.

The picture was much the same across the country, from vomiting in the streets in Liverpool to tackling police in London, law enforcement and bouncers certainly had a job on their hands till the early hours of Saturday morning.

Reports from across the country suggest police cells were full by midnight in some places, whereas A&Es filled up with those who had sustained drunken injuries.

Alcohol sales apparently soar 142 percent on this ‘black Friday’ – as everyone enjoys the official beginning of the Christmas holidays.
