Aurelia Marie Ann Underdahl became the first girl born in her father’s family since 1914, when she arrived on April 12 this year.

“I wasn't mentally prepared for a girl,” Aurelia’s mother Ashton revealed.

Ashton and husband Scott already have son Archer, who’s almost two, that joined the seven other boys spanning over four generations in the Underdahl family.

"Everyone has been hoping for a girl,” Scott told Coeur d’Alene Press.

"I didn't know what an Underdahl girl looked like."

The last girl born in Scott’s family was his great aunt Bernice in 1914, according to the report.

Conrad Underdahl (Scott’s father) said that after his first two sons were born, he rooted for a girl but got twin boys instead.

"Maybe it took more than 100 years to create perfection," Conrad joked.

"She's a cutie. We've been spoiling her a bit because it's just different finally holding a baby girl."

The happy grandfather also explained that the boys in the family grew up with hand-me-down clothes, so they’re waiting to see if Aurelia will start a similar trend on the girls’ side if there are more Underdahl girls to come.

Speaking about buying girls clothes, Ashton said that it’s more ‘overwhelming’ than shopping for boys – but that might just be because the family hasn’t had to do it for so long!

Congratulations to Ashton and Scott - she's beautiful!
