First of all, they told us it was going to be nothing but snowstorms and freezing temperatures this Easter Weekend.
Then they changed their mind, predicting a deliciously warm heatwave that would see us all rushing out to catch some rays in our bikinis.
But the truth is, unfortunately, much more… well, much more British.
You guessed it; it’s going to rain.
A lot.
Weather forecasters have gleefully revealed that Saturday, Sunday and then Bank Holiday Monday will bring us nothing but rain, thunder, and even hail in some spots.
Nicola Moxey, a spokesperson for the Met Office, added that the temperature across the weekend will be average for this time of year.
“The rain is going to come in on Saturday night [early morning] in the North West and Northern Ireland and then move across the country on Saturday,” she said.
“Then Sunday we have got a lot of showers around, some of those showers should bring thunder and could even bring some hail and winds will pick up.”
Thanks, Nicola - that’s just what we wanted to hear.
However there is SOME good weather on the horizon.
Good Friday is going to, ironically, be the good weather day of the Bank Holiday Weekend, with sunny intervals and no rain.
However it will be cloudy, so you may want to take a light jacket with you on your day trips.
Or, if you’re perpetually shivering at the slightest breeze (like we are), a heavy-duty winter coat.
At least the poor weather will see us emotionally prepared for April, which is going to be a pretty unsettled month.
Expect warm temperatures, plenty of rain, and very frizzy hair.
We guess they don’t call it April Showers for nothing!
