Ross and his crew were hiking through the jungle to a remote village to interview ‘The General’- the leader of a gang of robbers.
It was during the hike that armed men jumped out of trees and pointed their guns.
Tough Ross pushed the rifle away, saying: ‘are you gonna kill me? No one’s gonna f*****g kill me!’
The entire incident was caught on film by Ross's camera man.
Following the ordeal, the actor told Sky News: ‘you know if get down on your hands and knees you know you are going to become a victim at that point. What they're going to do you don't know.’
Ross’s approach must have worked as the crew were allowed to continue their trek through the jungle.
The star continued: ‘I don’t know to this day if they were going to hurt us … or if they were just testing us, testing our mettle to see if we’d capitulate, and because we didn’t, we earned his respect I think.’
Ross described the south pacific country as ‘one of the most violent societies I’ve ever… when you look at the stats in terms of how much violence is committed against women in particular… there are some things that I would suggest are unacceptable.’
The actor was in the country filming for his documentary series Ross Kemp Extreme World.
