It’s not been a great summer, to be honest.

We’ve had torrential rain and frigid temperatures, not to mention the fact that airport staff in Spain are planning a strike that’ll ruin plenty of people’s holidays.

And now it turns out that the planet is going to be wiped out by a single asteroid, too.

Yup, fun-loving conspiracy theorists have started predicting the end of days via a series of terrifying blogs.

They claim: “There doesn’t seem to be anything we can do except wake up to what is going on, and wake our friends and family up, at the risk of looking like a fool.

“The end is coming.”

The exact date is not set in stone but impact is predicted any time between 22 September and 28 - giving you a pretty paltry three months to get through your bucket lists.

They’ve also said that politicians all over the world know about the world-ending event, insisting this is why they have been busy deploying armed forces.

They added darkly: “Troops [are being put] in place to put down what is going to be pandemonium and revolution.

But, as always, there’s no point worrying too much about it - especially as NASA have shut the rumours down as utter nonsense.

A spokesperson said: "NASA knows of no asteroid or comet currently on a collision course with Earth, so the probability of a major collision is quite small.

"In fact, as best as we can tell, no large object is likely to strike the Earth any time in the next several hundred years."

Phew!
