Evha Jannath, who died after falling from a water ride at Drayton Manor, sustained fatal chest injuries
Evha Jannath died after sustaining fatal chest injuries, an inquest has found.
11-year-old Evha was on a school trip to Drayton Manor on 9 May when she fell out of a water ride and fell into the water.
She was airlifted to Birmingham Children's Hospital, but tragically died later that day.
An inquest into her death has today determined that she died from "blunt force chest trauma".
Whilst Drayton Manor Theme Park reopened last Saturday, the Splash Canyon ride, where Evha fell, has remained closed so that police can conduct their investigation.
A further inquest hearing will take place on Tuesday as Staffordshire Police and the Health and Safety Executive are both looking into the terrible accident.
Over 100 people turned out to celebrate Evha's life at her funeral on Tuesday in her hometown of Leicester.
According to eyewitnesses, including Evha's schoolfriends, the little girl stood up to swap places with another person in her boat.
As she did so, the boat jolted against the side which caused Evha to fatally fall into 5ft deep water.
Her family released a statement through Staffordshire Police: "Yesterday our world was torn apart by the news that our daughter and sister Evha, had lost her life in tragic circumstances, following a school trip to Drayton Manor Park.
"Evha was a beautiful little girl who was full of love and always smiling.
"Words cannot describe the pain and loss we feel, we are devastated that we will not see our beautiful little girl again. We ask that you allow us to grieve in private and deal with our loss as a family."
Our thoughts are with Evha's family. ❤️
