A Taiwanese woman has been treated in hospital after delivering a baby mid-flight over the Pacific ocean.

The unnamed woman’s waters broke six hours into the 19-hour flight between Taiwan and Los Angeles and alerted cabin crew that she had gone into labour.

Thankfully, a doctor was on board to treat the woman and the baby was delivered without a glitch halfway through the flight.

The baby was born a few hours into the flight

Passenger Amira Raijput posted a video of flight attendants holding the baby in blankets moments after its arrival whilst passengers cheered and clapped.

She told ABC News: “The woman is tough as nails.

“It was super chill. People were super quiet and calm so that this woman could have a stress-free experience.”

The plane was then given permission to land in Alaska where mother and baby were taken straight to hospital.

Many mothers-to-be go against medical advice and fly to the States in their final trimester in hopes that they’ll give birth on US soil.

Raijput explained that a border agent came on board the plane after it landed in Alaska.

They told her: “He told me that this is something foreign women do, to try and deliver overseas for citizenship. This is a political issue.

"People die to come to this country.”
