We believe the phrase "diamond in the rough" comes to mind here.
According to New York Daily News, chef Jorge Collazo found a glittering diamond ring in a small white box on his trip to the little boy's room during a Marc Anthony concert at the Brooklyn arena.
The silver ring was balanced on a toilet dispenser and came alongside a tiny piece of paper, on which was scribbled a declaration of love.
The note reads: “My dear Daniela d’Andrea,
"On this day Feb. 15, 2014, I want to give you This Ring as a Simbol (sic) of My Love.
"I will dedicate Myself to love you Protect you and Make you happy for as long as I live and More. You are the greatest love of my life.”
The last words began “Would you,” but the rest of the note was torn off.
Jorge, who waited 10 minutes in case the man rushed back to the bathroom to retrieve the ring, is sure it was meant as a proposal.
Eventually he gave up and headed back to the concert, where he showed the ring to his girlfriend Maria.
“Maria said to me, ‘This is heartbreaking. We have to get these people back together.’”
We really hope the owner of the ring steps forward and claims his diamond now that it's in the press - although we imagine the surprise will be ruined if his beloved sees it first!
