Women! Would you dare to bare your hairy legs?

We’ve all fallen victim to the accidental hairy ankle, or suffered trying to shave that hard to reach behind-the-knee spot.

But would you ever be brave enough to let your body hair bloom and then post photos of it on the Internet?

Blogs have been sprouting up all over Tumblr encouraging women to reject their razor, evade the epilator and wave goodbye to their wax strips. Hairy Legs Club (hairylegsclub.tumblr.com) and Super Hairy Female Legs (veryhairylegs.tumblr.com) both display photos of women embracing ordinary life, be it eating cookies or out and about in flip-flops, with varying levels of leg hair.

But the hair doesn’t stop there. The blogs also exhibit women with unshaved armpits and hairy chests.

The photos are all independently submitted and some include personal captions like, “I have hairy legs, and to be honest I feel more ‘feminine’ than ever!” and “these are my legs after about 3 or so months of not shaving. I get a lot of crap for it from my family, but I’m a 21 year old woman, I’m old enough to make these decisions for myself”.

Both of the blogs are designed to be positive platforms where women can celebrate their refusal to conform to socially accepted beauty rules and stick a (furry) finger or two up to misogyny.
