Based on the man’s statement, police said the deceased, a medicine supplier, had allegedly raped the man’s minor daughter two months ago.

The father did not approach police fearing “a bad name for his daughter”.

The 36-year-old father decided instead to invite the alleged rapist over for dinner in a bid to get revenge himself.

Police explained: “The father called the medicine supplier over to his house saying he wanted to discuss some issue. He served him dinner.

"After the meal, the father overpowered the man and tied him to a chair. He got heated tongs and burned the supplier’s genitals before strangling him to death.

"He came to the police station and surrendered himself."

The father reportedly gave police a detailed account of how he tortured the man to death.

“Based on his statement, we sent a team to the spot and recovered the body. It has been sent for a post-mortem examination and his family has been informed. A case of murder has been registered and the 36-year-old man was arrested,” the officer said.

In his statement, the man told police that two months ago, while he was away at his shop in the area, the medicine supplier had come calling at his house. On finding the 14-year-old girl alone at home, he allegedly raped her.

Despite threatening the girl with 'dire consequences' should she tell anyone about what happened, the traumatised teenager told her father about the attack the same day.

Police have said that, from that moment, he began planning the alleged rapist's murder.
