Couple ‘stab each other to death in front of young child’

The man and woman are believed to have died within minutes of each other and police investigating are not looking for anyone in connection to the deaths.

One of their two children, aged two and three, are thought to have witnessed their deaths in Kildysart, Co Clare in Ireland.

While officers were assisting firefighters at a blaze in a shop, a 27-year-old woman with stab wounds appeared, holding one of the children.

She reportedly collapsed and the ‘screaming’ child ran back into their apartment.

While some officers tended to her, others rushed into the apartment and discovered a 44-year-old man, also with stab wounds.

Both the man and the woman died, despite attempts to save their lives.

Officers are yet to confirm who inflicted the stabbings, and no weapon has been discovered.

The street where the woman died and the apartment where the man’s body was discovered have both been preserved for investigation.

Officers were later seen carrying their two children from the apartment and they are now being cared for.
