The 84-year-old was convicted last year of indecent assaults, including an attack on an eight year old, and was sentenced to five years and nine months in prison.

And now one of his prestigious awards has been stripped from him in wake of his crimes.

A statement from the Order of Australia read: ‘It is notified for general information that the governor general has terminated the appointments of Officer and Member of the Order of Australia in the general division, made to Mr Rolf Harris.’

Harris was found guilty of 12 sex offences between the years of 1968 and 1986, most of which referred to his daughter’s friend.

In one such incident Harris seriously sexually assaulted her while his daughter slept in the adjacent bed.

The once well-loved Aussie performer has already been stripped of his BAFTA fellowship, but there have been calls for his CBE to be taken away too - an award which is one step below knighthood.
