Jenny Bone, 39, was left in a coma after her immune system attacked her nerves in March 2014, and doctors feared she would never recover.

When she stopped responding to routine tests, she was pronounced brain dead, and doctors began to ask her husband if they should withdraw life support.

Terrifyingly, Jenny heard the entire conversation, because she was actually paralysed but still conscious and able to hear.

‘We’d had the conversation about what we would do if that sort of thing happened to the other person, and I said I would like it to be switched off,’ Jenny explained.

‘He actually went against my wishes, but I am obviously very pleased he did that now.’

Husband John said that his decision was due to the fact it was ‘far too soon’ to give up on his beloved, who had only been taken ill four days before when John was first asked to make his choice.

Luckily, John remained resolute about his decision, and Jenny later awoke, being able to recall the entire conversation.

It was later discovered that she suffered from Guillain Barre syndrome, which caused her immune system to attack her nerves.

Jenny has since returned to work, and even ran a 5K for charity. Don't you just love a happy ending?
