Celebrity paedophile masks removed from eBay after backlash

An eBay store has come under fire for selling masks of convicted paedophiles Rolf Harris and Jimmy Savile.

Cardboard masks showing the sexual predators’ smiling faces were available to buy through Amazon and Ebay, but have now been taken off sale following a backlash from the public.

The masks, which sold for as little as £1.50, are now off the market.

Sadly, this was not before the Rolf Harris masks were put on sale at a kids’ stall at Edinburgh market.

A spokesperson for eBay said: ‘eBay is a marketplace. We provide a platform for sellers that is very different to other websites.’

‘Yet we do not allow the sale of items related to serious crimes on our site.’

‘We started to remove auctions as soon as this particular case was brought to our attention.’

‘The items are now banned from being sold on eBay.’

Sex abuse victim Jill Appleyard, who was molested by Max Clifford when she was only 14, called the creators of the products ‘disgusting.’

The owner of Foxy Facemasks, who sell but do not produce the masks, said that the offensive items were ‘a bit of fun for some people and sad for others.’

‘Today’s world is becoming too politically correct and these things will upset people.’
