Officers were called to the house in Portland, Oregon, after the cat’s owner returned from work to find their home had been broken into.

Unsure if the burglar was still in the residence, the police had help from a feline friend to search the property.

The police shared information about the incident on their Facebook page, writing: ‘The victim's cat was walking around on the floor so the officer picked up the cat to make sure it did not step in the glass. The cat climbed up onto the officer's shoulders and remained there as they finished searching the house.’

‘No suspects were found but several personal items were discovered missing after the burglary.’

According to police, neighbours helped them gather information about a possible suspect.

‘Officers contacted a neighbor who told police that she saw a suspicious man in the neighborhood earlier in the day that seemed interested in the activities of the neighborhood.’

‘The witness described the man as a white male, 30-40 years old, 5'9" tall, skinny build, curly brown hair, wearing a dark-colored track suit with pants tucked into his socks and boots.’

‘Another neighbor described seeing an older white van, driven by a white male with dark hair and sunglasses, driving through the neighborhood.’

We’re glad the owner’s lovable moggy wasn’t hurt, and that he managed to do his bit to help!
