When it was announced that Madonna would be closing the BRIT Awards for the first time in 20 years, everyone knew that she would make her performance count.
But nobody had prepared themselves for what happened at the start of her performance…
Just seconds into singing her comeback single ‘Living For Love’, Madonna was seen struggling to undo the elaborate cape she had worn to walk on stage.
In a dramatic turn of events, a dancer pulled the cape, yanking the 56-year-old down a set of steps backwards and onto the floor.
The tumble was audible to thousands in O2 Arena as well as millions watching in the UK and around the world.
Like a true pro (and with the help of one of her dancers) Madonna got back onto her feet and went straight back into the performance.
Fans became worried as she appeared to limp through some of the dance steps, but the legendary pop star was thankfully unhurt by the fall.
Madonna even thanked Armani for designing the now infamous cape, tweeting after her performance: “Armani hooked me up! My beautiful cape was tied too tight! But nothing can stop me and love really lifted me up!…”
